A sonic act of reconciliation - apologies spoken through sound, heard in silence.
Apologies is a work consisting of five pieces for different solo instruments.
Conceived as an act of reclamation, it is an attempt to make amends with those I feel I should have apologized to but never had the chance.
The piece is designed to be performed in an ensemble setting, yet each musician plays individually.
Each piece represents an apology directed toward a single person, while the other musicians listen, reinforcing the intimacy and weight of the act.
Through an experimental and improvisatory approach, Apologies explores the nature of saying sorry - an act that, to be sincere, should not be overly planned or controlled.
